The USO of Illinois is proud to participate in this year's  Freedom Festival. Since 1941, the USO (United Service Organizations) has been a bridge between the American people and U.S. military personnel and their families. This civilian non-profit organization has a steadfast mission, in times of peace and conflict, to enhance the quality of life of the active duty men and women of the Armed Forces and their families through social, recreational, entertainment and educational programs and support services.

Their participation in this year's Freedom Festival will help raise awareness of their mission and help them reach their goals of providing support to those serving their nation. They hope to do so in a number of ways.

Soldiers' Angels is a website founded by Patti Patton-Bader, mother of Spc. Brandon Varn, who has recently returned from a year's deployment to Iraq.

The Soldiers' Angels mission is to provide aide and comfort to any of the armed forces and their families. More importantly, the slogan describes the motivation behind Soldiers' Angels. By working together and sharing a common vision of service, the volunteers of Soldiers' Angels send care to deployed soldier's and their loved ones at home. From its very inception, the focus of Soldiers' Angels has been: Helping to bring home healthy soldiers.

During the 1st annual Freedom Festival the Northern Illinois Community adopted over 70 solders and We Do Care has set a goal to adopt no fewer than 200 during this years Freedom Festival. Visit their web site at www.soldiersangels.org

The Navy League of the United States was founded in 1902 with the encouragement of President Theodore Roosevelt. The Navy League is unique among military-oriented associations in that it is a civilian organization dedicated to the education of our citizens, including our elected officials, and the support of the men and women of the sea services and their families. You need not have served in the military to be a member of the Navy League. Visit their web site at www.navyleague.org.

The Yellow Ribbon Support Group is a registered Tax Exempt, Not-For-Profit Charitable Organization whose mission is to furnish “good will” packages to the military men and women deployed to foreign shores. For the last year we have asked the various churches and congregations in the area to host “Package Campaigns” for the Yellow Ribbon Support Group. Many churches have made us part of their ministry team. We have done over 1600 packages through package campaigns at various churches in Palatine, Rolling Meadows, Schaumburg, etc. in addition to those (1100) we mailed with our own funds since April 2003. The response has been tremendous, and allows us to use our fund-raising dollars for inventory shortages and other costs. The congregation members really get into the campaigns and are disappointed if we run out of boxes before the last service is over.
